With 10 friends last weekend, I went camping close to Tossa de Mar in Costa Brava. Here are some drawings from the closest Cala, which was a short walk down from the cliffside where we camped, past 4 or 5 levels of campers and glampers, (all of them more prepared than our group) past the block toilets and through some Oleander bushes. The cala is a nudist beach, which means I could do some sort of ad hoc life drawing, whilst also trying to be as respectful as possible, as I’d never want to make anyone be aware of being observed. I love to watch the couples who arrived in the morning at around the same time as us. They are extremely beach prepared, with blow up mattresses, fold out chairs, sexy fabric parasols, who spend all their days there, rubbing eachothers backs and bums with suncream, reading or just standing and watching the day with hands on hips.
Ciara (drawing in the pic below) puts things in boxes on a page, in order to contain them on the page, and I found that it really helps me too, to contain my sketches. I’ve been also revisiting Pro Markers and Copic pens.
